Ravichandran Ashwin has always been a top performer for team India in home conditions. His performance along with other spinners has been instrumental thing in India’s success in India. So, when team India took on Australia in the first Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Nagpur, fans were eager to see his performance in the red-ball format.


Speaking of the match, Pat Cummins won the toss and opted to bat first. However, ahead of the pitch, reports were there that the Nagpur pitch will be a rank-turner. However, Indian spinners showed their class as Ravindra Jadeja took five wickets while Ashwin managed three wickets. He took those wickets for 42 runs in 15.5 overs in the first innings.

Then, India managed to score 400 runs in 139.3 overs. Ravichandran Ashwin came out to bat at number three as the night watchman. He played a vital knock as Ashwin scored 23 runs off 62 balls. He hit two fours and one six, at a strike rate of 37.09. He managed a partnership of 42 runs for the second wicket. The Men in Blue managed a lead of 223 runs and in reply to that, Australia are currently struggling heavily. They have lost their eight wickets for 81 runs in 28 overs. 


Ravichandran Ashwin steamrolled the Aussie batting line-up with his spinning web. He took five wickets among those by conceding only 37 runs in 12 overs so far. After such a performance, fans went crazy and shared their views to acknowledge the performance of the veteran off-spinner. Before the series, Australia also hired a young Indian spinner during their camp in Bengaluru whose bowling action is similar to Ravichandran Ashwin. Still, they failed to tackle Ashwin in the second innings. Hence, it was another fifer in his career and as of now, he has taken 457 wickets in 89 Tests.
