On 17 February 2023, team India locked horns with Australia in the second match of the ongoing Border Gavaskar Trophy. The Men in Blue won the first match by an inning and 132 runs. Ravichandran Ashwin took five wickets in Australia’s second innings where they got bundled out for 91 runs.

So, fans were hoping for another great show from this veteran spinner in Delhi. Ravichandran Ashwin has always been a great bowler for India in Indian conditions. His variations have been the major threats against any opposition. Ahead of the series, the Aussies also hired a young Indian spinner whose bowling action is similar to Ashwin's.

Ravichandran Ashwin showed his class again in the first session of the Delhi Test

Speaking of the match, Australia won the toss and opted to bat first. For the visitors, David Warner and Usman Khawaja came out to open the innings. Both these openers went cheaply in the series opener in Nagpur. But, they managed to put up a 50-run partnership as David Warner again got out against Shami. However, Australia were going strong until the 23rd over. Fans were thinking that the Aussies might finish the first session with just one wicket. But, in that 23rd over, Ravichandran Ashwin came up to bowl.

Marnus Labuschagne was batting. On the fourth delivery of that over, Ashwin took the wicket of him by managing an LBW. Then, Steve Smith came out to bat. Again, Ashwin took the wicket on the last delivery of that over and Smith went for a two-ball duck. So, fans went crazy seeing Ashwin sending back both the number one and number two batter in the Test format in that same over. They came up and acknowledge his effort by sharing their views on the social media platform. Thus, the Aussies finished the first session of the match after scoring 94 runs for three wickets in 25 overs. Ravichandran Ashwin took two wickets while Mohammed Shami managed one.
