The stage is getting prepared for the fourth Test between India and Australia in Ahmedabad. The match will kick off on 9 March 2023. After winning the last match, the Aussies made a comeback and an exciting battle awaits fans in Ahmedabad. But, the pitch has been in the headlines throughout this series.

In the Indore Test, the match got ended within three days. Indian batters were absolutely clueless as the ball was spinning on day one itself. Nathan Lyon won the player of the match award for picking up 11 wickets. Meanwhile, spinners took 26 wickets in that match out of all 31 wickets fell.

Australia defeated India by nine wickets in the Indore Test

The Governing Body of Cricket also took action on the Indore pitch as three demerit points were given and rated the pitch as ‘poor’. According to match referee Chris Broad’s reports, it read: “The pitch, which was very dry, did not provide a balance between bat and ball, favouring spinners from the start. The fifth ball of the match broke through the pitch surface and continued to occasionally break the surface providing little or no seam movement and there was excessive and uneven bounce throughout the match.”

However, the former India cricketer, Sunil Gavaskar was not happy with that and came up with a comparison with a recent Test at Gabba, Australia where a Test got ended in two days only. While speaking in an exclusive interview with India Today, Gavaskar said: "One thing I would like to know, there was this Test match in November in Brisbane Gabba, where the match finished in 2 days. How many demerit points did that pitch get and who was the match referee there."

"I think 3 demerit points is a little harsh, because, in this pitch, yes the ball turned, but it was not dangerous. When Australia got to a score of 77 for the loss of one wicket it actually tells you that the pitch got a lot better," Gavaskar further added. Notably, the Apex Council of Cricket termed the Gabba pitch as ‘below average’, and one demerit point was given. Now, reports have come out that curators are preparing a ‘normal track’ for the fourth Test in Ahmedabad. Seeing such reports, fans are now confused and shared their views on social media.
