As a matter of fact, he has taken the most number of wickets by a spinner in the history of the cash-rich league. However, the mega auction for the 2022 edition saw him going unsold. Yet, he continues to give his opinions about this edition through his Tweets.

Recently, he showed his humorous side as he went on to troll Chennai. While replying to a fan who requested him to play for the defending champions, he indirectly mentioned that he was still not old enough to represent them.

"Sorry mate, Still two years younger for it." read Amit Mishra's reply on the micro-blogging website. His Tweet instantly went viral, and users were impressed by his witty reply. Although most of the fans loved his witty response, a few Chennai fans didn't like the fact that he was trolling their team and thus, started to troll him. Nevertheless, Mishra's response won the day.

It is to be noted that the Chennai-based franchise were called "Dad’s Army" due to their tendency to sign players above the age of 30. Fans started to associate Chennai with experienced and senior players during the 2018 mega auction, when they purchased the likes of Shane Watson, Ambati Rayudu, Dwayne Bravo and Imran Tahir. Besides they were led by MS Dhoni back then, who was on the wrong side of his 30s.

Having said that, Chennai's plans to sign experienced players worked for them as they won the title in 2018. Post which, they made it to the final in 2019, and won the title once again in 2021. Even during the mega auction in 2022, the yellow army purchased a lot of seasoned campaigners.
