The upcoming fifteenth edition of the Indian T20 League is all set to take place in a few months. The fact that it’s now a ten-team tournament makes it even more interesting. Earlier, Ahmedabad and Lucknow were officially announced as the two new franchises of the Indian T20 league.

Ahmedabad was awaiting an official clearance by the BCCI and hence, there wasn’t any news about them for a while. However, as they have now got the green signal from the board, they have already started their process of finalsing their staff. As per reports, Asish Nehra is set to become the head coach of the team

The Gujrat-based franchise are reportedly in the process of signing their three players as well. According to a report by Sports Tiger, the franchise is close to finalizing India’s keeper-batter Ishan Kishan, as well as the Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan. They have already zeroed in on Hardik Pandya, who is likely to lead the side.

“The franchise has almost finalised its deal with Afghan spin sensation Rashid Khan and dashing keeper-batter Ishan Kishan as their second and third picks from the draft. As of now, that’s what is finalised unless there are changes at the last moment,” said a BCCI source, as quoted by Sports Tiger.

In what comes as major news, Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya reportedly will be leading the new franchise. Although the veteran journalist K Sriniwas Rao had earlier reported that Shreyas Iyer was set to lead Ahmedabad through a Tweet, he took to Twitter to further report that it was Pandya who will be their captain

“Hardik Pandya will be the captain of the brand new Ahmedabad franchise (not Shreyas). They’re getting Rashid Khan on board too. Action-packed week. : )” read his second Tweet, where he spoke about the Baroda all-rounder captaining Ahmedabad. Thus, the hype for the new team is slowly and steadily increasing.
