After winning the toss and electing to bowl first, Delhi were superb with the new ball. They dismissed the Bangalore openers rather cheaply. It is to be noted that Faf du Plessis and Anuj Rawat were dismissed within the first 15 balls of the game.

Virat Kohli was run out for the second time in this edition as a superb throw from Lalit Yadav meant that he had to prematurely depart. After which, Glenn Maxwell was at his explosive best and showed why people call him the "Big Show". He scored 55 runs off 34 balls.

While his strike rate was 161.76, he hit seven fours and two sixes. Although he hit Kuldeep Yadav for 23 runs in the ninth over, the leggie managed to have the last laugh as he dismissed him in the 12th over. When things looked bleak for Bangalore, Dinesh Karthik played the rescue act once again. The keeper-batter continued to hit runs for fun.

Karthik scored a spectacular 66 from just 34 balls, and remained unbeaten. It is to be noted that the Tamil Nadu cricketer has been dismissed just once in the 2022 edition so far. He was well supported by Shahbaz Ahmed, who scored an unbeaten 32 from 21 balls.

Their 97-run partnership enabled the Bangalore-based franchise to 189-5 in their 20 overs. During the second innings, Delhi's openers came out all guns blazing before Prithvi Shaw had to return to the pavilion in the fifth over. After which, David Warner got to a superb half-century.

However, Mitchell Marsh struggled throughout his innings and was only able to score 14 from 21 balls. Post his dismissals, Delhi faced a batting collapse and lost their middle-order rather cheaply. Josh Hazlewood picked three wickets in his four overs as well. Thus, Delhi fell short of their target by 16 runs.
