In what comes as sad news for all the Chennai fans, Deepak Chahar has officially been ruled out of the Indian T20 league 2022. Several reports in the last few days suggested the same, but there wasn't any official update about the pacer being unavailable for this edition. However, an Indian T20 league media release on Friday confirmed that he will not play this edition.

It is to be noted that Chennai spent a whopping amount of INR 14 crore during the mega auction to acquire his services. The defending champions have missed him as they have only managed to win one out of their five games so far. It is to be noted that he had suffered another injury while recovering at the National Cricket Academy (NCA).

Chahar was last seen during the limited-overs series against the West Indies, where he sustained an injury. His form before getting injured was superb as he was developing into a quality all-rounder. Thus, the yellow army will have a tough time playing without him.

As for Chennai, they are currently languishing in ninth place in the Indian T20 league 2022 points. The media release included a few other important updates as well. One of them being that Kolkata have signed Harshit Rana.

He comes as a replacement for Rasikh Salam. The 22-year-old has been ruled out due to a lower back injury. He featured in two games for the Kolkata-based franchise in this edition. Another update comes from the Delhi camp. Like the other two, this one isn't a promising one either. Patric Farhat, who happens to be Delhi's physio, has tested positive for COVID-19.

However, he is been closely monitored by Delhi's medical team. As far as the Delhi-based franchise are concerned, then they have won two out of their first four games. The Rishabh Pant-led side recently beat Kolkata by 44 runs. Their next match is scheduled to take place on April 16, and they will be facing Bangalore at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
