‘Abey kya bol raha hai…clear bol’ - Fans react to Rohit Sharma’s huge prediction for MI’s youngsters ahead of LSG clash in IPL 2023 Eliminator

Mumbai Indians (MI) will be in action on 24 May 2023 against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the eliminator of the ongoing IPL. After a difficult start to the season, MI managed to come back stronger and managed to seal fourth place in the table with 16 points in 14 games. Before this season, star players like Jasprit Bumrah got ruled out of injury.

In the middle of the season, Jofra Archer also left the camp due to an injury. Still, youngsters like Tilak Varma, Nehal Wadhera, and Akash Madhwal rose up in critical situations to win matches for Rohit Sharma. Now, ahead of the eliminator clash against LSG, MI skipper, Rohit Sharma came up with a bold prediction about these youngsters.     

“These two guys are going to play a big role for Mumbai & India in future” - Rohit Sharma on Tilak Varma and Nehal Wadhera 

In a recent interview with JioCinema, Rohit said: "The story of Bumrah, Hardik, Krunal will be similar to Tilak Varma & Nehal Wadhera - after 2 years, people will say this is a superstar team - these two guys are going to play a big role for Mumbai & India in future.”

Speaking of the performance of these youngsters so far in IPL 2023, Akash Madhwal has been in top form in the last three matches. He has taken seven wickets in the last three matches. In six matches, he has taken eight wickets. Meanwhile, Nehal Wadhera has scored 214 runs in 12 matches, at an average of 30.57 so far including two fifties in crunch situations. Tilak Varma has scored 274 runs in nine matches, at an average of 45.67. In IPL 2022 also, he scored 397 runs in 14 matches, at an average of 36.09. 

However, it is not the first time that MI are performing well with such youngsters in their playing XI. In previous years, MI scouted talents like Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya, and Krunal Pandy who later managed to play big roles for Team India across different formats. These players have now become IPL superstars also. Seeing such a statement, fans shared their views on social media.
