However, in recent months, England have become a force to reckon with in the red ball format due to their aggressive nature. Their ‘Bazball’ approach has impressed everyone and has helped them to win Tests very convincingly. But, now reports have come out that the Ashes is likely to have shorter boundaries to maximise the impact of Bazball.

Australia have announced their squad for the Ashes but England are yet to announce

Hearing such reports, fans were not happy as they claimed that will degrade the level of Test cricket. However, ahead of this series, England will play a one-off Test against Ireland from June 1. In contrast, Australia will play the World Test Championship final against India at the Oval from June 7. Recently, in an interview with the Daily Mail, Stuart Broad claimed that the 2021-22 series could not be classified as 'real Ashes'. He said that the series got played under strict COVID restrictions and that was the reason behind England's underperformance.

Broad said: "Nothing was harsher than the last Ashes series. But in my mind, I don't class that as a real Ashes. The definition of Ashes cricket is elite sport with lots of passion and players at the top of their game. Nothing about that series was high-level performance because of the Covid restrictions. The training facilities, the travel, not being able to socialise. I've written it off as a void series." He also said that it will be interesting how the Aussies tackle their new ‘Bazball’ approach. He said: "It would be great for us if Australia try to take us on at our own game. If we can get them playing in a slightly different style they could make mistakes and that would be brilliant for us. I'd love Smith to dance down the track and sky one to mid-off early doors. That would be classic."
