The game on the third day of the second Test between India and Bangladesh ended in Mirpur with a surprising turnaround of things. Bangladesh resumed their batting on the morning of the third day. Riding on the crucial knocks from 73 and 51 runs from Litton Das and Zakir Hasan, the hosts posted a total of 231 runs taking a lead of 144 runs in the second innings.

While chasing a low target of 145 runs, the Indian lost early four wickets only on the score of 40 runs and now they require runs in the fourth innings of the match to cross the line.

Speaking of the entire action of the match, the hosts lost three early wickets only on the score of 51 runs at the start of the day. But later on, young opener Zakir Hasan’s crucial knock of 51 runs followed by a brilliant 73-run half-century by Litton Das helped Bangladesh to post a total of 231 runs posting a target of 145 runs for India in the fourth innings.

Axar Patel ended up as the leading wicket-taker for India in the second innings by scalping three wickets and conceding 68 runs in 19.2 overs. Other than him, Ravichandran Ashwin and Mohammed Siraj also scalped two wickets alongside one scalp each by Umesh Yadav and Jaydev Unadkat.

Notably, the Indian team has to win this match and the series as well by a clean sweep margin to keep their hopes alive in contention for the World Test Championship 2023 Final.
