On 4 August 2023, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) officially confirmed the departure of Mike Hesson and Sanjay Bangar as the Director of Operations and Head Coach ahead of the next IPL season. They came up with a post to share their gratitude for them for their service for the last five years.

In the shared post, they wrote: “We thank 𝐌𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐇𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐧 and 𝐒𝐚𝐧𝐣𝐚𝐲 𝐁𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐫 for their commendable work during the stints as 𝗗𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗸𝗲𝘁 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 and 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗖𝗼𝗮𝗰𝗵 of RCB. Their professionalism and work ethics have always been held in high regard. A number of youngsters were given a platform to learn and succeed in the last four years. Andy Flower has achieved many successes as a coach in the 20-20 format

During their tenure, RCB managed to qualify for the playoffs thrice in the last five editions. But, they also confirmed that the former Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) head coach, Andy Flower has been appointed as the new head coach. They confirmed the news on social media with a caption: “We are beyond thrilled to welcome 𝗜𝗖𝗖 𝗛𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗼𝗳 𝗙𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗿 and 𝟮𝟬-𝟮𝟬 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗖𝘂𝗽 winning coach 𝐀𝐧𝐝𝐲 𝐅𝐥𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫 as the 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗖𝗼𝗮𝗰𝗵 of RCB Men’s team. Andy’s experience of coaching IPL & T20 teams around the world, and leading his teams to titles at the PSL, ILT20, The Hundred and Abu Dhabi T10 will help in developing a championship winning mindset and take RCB’s #PlayBold philosophy forward. #ನಮ್ಮRCB.”

Under Flower, LSG performed well in the last two editions. They qualified for the playoffs twice despite losing both times in the eliminator. In 2010, England won the 20-20 World Cup in West Indies under Flower’s guidance. After getting removed from LSG, reports were there that he is in talks with an IPL franchise and now, seeing this, RCB fans went crazy and shared their views on social media.
