Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have performed well in their first two sessions of IPL. In IPL 2022, they finished third after the group stage with 18 points in 14 games. But, in the eliminator, they got knocked out by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). In IPL 2023, they again finished third after the group stage.

But, they got knocked out again in the eliminator by Mumbai Indians (MI). Still, the team showed massive consistency in both seasons. But, now reports have come out that Justin Langer is most likely to become the new head coach of LSG. The former Zimbabwe player, Andy Flower has been the head coach for the last two seasons.

Justin Langer played 105 Tests and eight ODIs for Australia

Gautam Gambhir is currently the global mentor of the franchise. According to reports, Langer and the team officials have already held several rounds of discussions. The former Aussie won the 20-20 World Cup in 2021 as the head coach of Australia. He has also managed to win three Big Bash League (BBL) titles in the last four seasons as the head coach of Perth Scorchers. Currently, he is not under any coaching commitments. In the recent World Test Championship (WTC) final between India and Australia, he was seen as one of the commentators.

Meanwhile, during that final, Langer also slammed the Indian Cricket Board over the removal of Virat Kohli as skipper. He said: “Loved his (Virat Kohli’s) aggression. The Indian Cricket Board did an injustice to him, and I do not want to hear anything else. If he wanted to keep the ODI captaincy, he should have been allowed to do that out of respect. There was nothing I didn't like about Virat Kohli. His aggression, his passion, his batting. He was an amazing captain”. Speaking about Langer’s career, he played 105 Tests and scored 7696 runs, including 30 fifties and 23 centuries. He also played eight ODIs and scored only 160 runs.
