Shoaib Akthar, a guy born with a disability in the legs on the 13th of August in 1975 in the Morgah Tehsil of Punjab’s city of Rawalpindi in Pakistan. Nobody had an idea that a boy who was born with a disability will turn out to be the fastest bowler on the planet in the game of cricket.
Today, the Rawalpindi Express has reached the 47th station of his life with a lot of achievements, and accomplishments to his name. Shoaib retired from cricket 11 years back in the year 2011 after the conclusion of the 2011 ODI World Cup. The 47-year-old enjoyed a celebrated career till the time he bid adieu to the field of cricket.
The fans of former bowling legend, are also celebrating the 47th birthday of their favorite cricketing hero. They went on to pour out their wishes for the former veteran speedster.
Shoaib Akhtar, the name of a legacy in the pace bowling
Shoaib Akhtar made his first international appearance for Pakistan in 25 years against West Indies at his hometown Rawalpindi. He played 46 Tests, 163 ODIs, and 15 T20Is for the national side of Pakistan during his 14 year-long-career. The legend scalped 178 Test wickets alongside 247 ODI and 19 T20I wickets in his international career.
He played his last international match for Pakistan in the ODI World Cup of 2011 against New Zealand in a Group stage match.
Speaking of Shoaib’s fastest delivery and that historic moment, then it was the 22nd of February in 2003, and Pakistan was playing against England. Nick Knight was on the strike to face Shoaib Akhtar. The Rawalpindi express went on break all the records of history and bowled a delivery with over the speed of 100 mph. Not only this time, but Akhtar has also crossed the mark of 100 mph two times.
Speaking of Akhtar’s current position, then he is recovering with his knee. He sustained a lot of injuries in his entire cricketing career which also restricted him to playing fewer matches than the number he could have played.
