4 new faces who can be game changers for India in 20-20 world cup 2022

The 2022 edition of the Indian T20 League is currently underway. With the addition of two more teams, the tournament has become bigger and better than ever before. With the 20-20 World Cup 2022 coming later this year, the selectors are looking keenly at the performances of the Indian cricketers in the ongoing Indian T20 League. Apart from the experienced campaigners, some young talented Indian cricketers have also impressed one and all with their performances.

In this article, we have shortlisted four new faces who can be game changers for India in the 20-20 World Cup 2022.

1. Rahul Tewatia

There is no doubt that India are always on the constant lookout for the players who can finish the game well for the team. Filling MS Dhoni’s shoes isn’t an easy task. The likes of Rishabh Pant and Hardik Pandya have got enough experience now and are expected to do the finishing role for the side in the upcoming 20-20 World Cup 2022.

However, given how Rahul Tewatia has played the role of a finisher in the last couple of years, he could be in consideration for team India’s selection. Tewatia has often taken the team home from difficult situations in the run-chase and his temperament is certainly something to adore. In the ongoing edition of the Indian T20 League, he has managed to score 193 runs in 11 matches at a strike rate of 150.78.

2. Umran Malik

Umran Malik made headlines during the last edition of the Indian T20 League. He impressed one and all with his raw pace in just 3 matches played for Hyderabad. Malik showcased his true potential in the ongoing edition while playing for the same franchise.

He has consistently clocked over 150 kmph and recently bowled the fastest delivery of this season, i.e., 156kmph. His raw pace and bounce can be effective on the bouncy pitches of Australia and, thus, Umran Malik could prove to be a game-changer in the 20-20 World Cup 2022.

3. Tilak Varma

Mumbai have had a forgettable season in the ongoing edition of the Indian T20 League. They are currently languishing at the bottom of the table but Mumbai have unearthed some special talents who can serve the franchise for many years to come. The 19-year-old Tilak Varma is definitely one of them. He has shown great temperament.

His ability to perform under pressure is something experts should talk more about. Despite the top-order consistently failing to score runs, Varma held one end together and took the team to competitive scores on multiple occasions. He is currently Mumbai’s leading run-getter this season, having managed to score 328 runs in 10 matches at a strike rate of close to 140.

4. Arshdeeep Singh

Arshdeep Singh is someone who has been around for a few years now. He has been producing goods for Punjab consistently for three years now. His ability to nail pin-point Yorkers is second to none.

He is currently one of the best left-arm seamers in the Indian Cricket. Arshdeep Singh’s ability to bowl in the power play and in the death overs is something to applaud. He has impressed one and all with his fast bowling exploits this year as well and, certainly, deserves a chance to be in the Indian team.

He hasn’t taken a lot of wickets this season but his economy of under 8 despite bowling in the power play and at the death tells you a lot about his potential.
