Rohit Sharma

The 35-year-old senior batter Rohit Sharma is all set to lead the Indian team for the first time as the full-time skipper in the 20-20 World Cup. The veteran right-hander is in excellent form with the bat currently and recently played a brilliant knock of 43 runs in the recently-concluded second T20I against South Africa.

Although, one of the major concerns with having Rohit Sharma in the squad is his fitness and vulnerability to injury. He was not a part of the Indian team in the final T20I on the West Indies tour due to a back spasm and earlier, he had to retire hurt because of the pain. So, managing Rohit’s fitness and injury will also be a concern for the Indian team management during the eighth edition of the 20-20 World Cup.

The senior pacer is not in expected form for the last couple of matches since the Asia Cup 2022. Although, he has delivered some outstanding spells over the years during his 10-year-long international career for the national side of the Indian cricket team.

The 32-year-old senior pacer amazed and impressed everyone when he registered a five-wicket haul against Afghanistan in the last super-4 match of India during Asia Cup 2022. The Meerut-based senior lad is currently active for India only in the shortest format of the game. Bhuvneshwar hasn’t had a good history with the injuries as he sustained a hamstring injury in the midst of the 2019 ODI World Cup.

So, it will be very crucial for the management to deal with the injury issues of Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

Harshal Patel has recently made his comeback to international cricket after a hiatus due to an injury. He has been a part of the Indian team from the T20I series against Australia to the ongoing three-match T20I series against South Africa. Notably, Harshal impressed everyone when he made his first few appearances in international cricket.

He had also enjoyed two great seasons in the Indian T20 League while playing for the Banglore franchise. But speaking of his current form, then he the 31-year-old has failed to impress with his bowling in the recently-concluded series against Australia and ongoing T20I assignment against South Africa.

Talking about the injury concerns with Harshal, then he sustained stress and a blow in his rib which resulted in his exclusion from the Asia Cup 2022. He’ll also be the one who needs to be taken care of very closely in the 20-20 World Cup.
