South Africa has named the 15-member squad for the 20-20 World Cup 2022. Temba Bavuma is all set to carry on with his captaincy stint. Quinton de Kock, Aiden Markram and David Miller will all try their hand in the 20-20 World Cup 2022 to be held in Australia.

South Africa’s squad: Temba Bavuma (captain), Quinton de Kock, Reeza Hendricks, Heinrich Klaasen, Keshav Maharaj, Aiden Markram, David Miller, Lungi Ngidi, Anrich Nortje, Wayne Parnell, Dwaine Pretorius, Kagiso Rabada, Rilee Rossouw, Tabraiz Shamsi, Tristan Stubbs.

We have handpicked three players who deserved to be in the squad but missed out:

1) Marco Jansen

Marco Jansen, the left-arm fast, has been the latest sensation for the Proteas. Known for his sheer pace and short balls, the all-rounder was giving it all for the team in all the matches that he played.

Unfortunately, he is not a part of the squad, given his proven all-rounding prowess. The 22-year-old has played only a single T20I for South Africa yet. This might be the only reason for leaving him out as he can never be excluded. All said and done, the Proteas will miss his services.

2) Andile Phehlukwayo

Andile Phehlukwayo has represented South Africa in 38 T20Is. Too surprising for his experience to be left out of the squad. The all-rounder has as many as 45 scalps to his name in the format.

The exclusion of Phehlukwayo has created a shockwave among South African fans. The player is one of the best in business and has given his heart out for South Africa so far. The 26-year-old’s experience will be missed in the 20-20 World Cup 2022 in Australia.

3) Rassie van der Dussen:

The top-order batter will miss out on the South Africa squad due to injury. He was a part of the 20-20 World Cup 2021. However, the injury-prone player will look to get back to fitness and look to seal his place in the 2023 50-over World Cup.

The 33-year-old has represented the Proteas in 41 T20Is and has amassed 1044 runs at an average of 36. He might have single-handedly played a few match-winning knocks had he been a part of the South African squad.
