MS Dhoni, the captain of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), was spotted honing his six-hitting technique in the practise nets in preparation for Qualifier 1 against the Gujarat Titans (GT), the defending champions. On Tuesday, May 23, the pivotal match is set to take place in Chennai's MA Chidambaram Stadium.

Under Dhoni's shrewd direction, CSK enjoyed another outstanding season, winning eight of their 14 games to place second in the points standings. MS Dhoni and company qualified for the playoffs for an unheard-of 12th time in 14 years. They'll have their work cut out for them, though, if they want to compete in the IPL 2023 championship game against the Gujarat Titans.

The Titans won Qualifier 1 and the championship game against the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in their inaugural IPL season after finishing first in the points standings the previous year and advancing through the playoffs. They have maintained their outstanding performance from a year ago, which was anchored by the vivacious Hardik Pandya and featured Shubman Gill with the bat, Rashid Khan with the ball, and Mohammed Shami with the ball.

However, MS Dhoni will want to tie the record of the Mumbai Indians for most titles by helping Chennai win their fifth IPL championship and adding another feather to his cap. When CSK played the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in Chennai on April 12, the 41-year-old became the first skipper to ever captain a franchise in 200 games.

Here what Harbhajan Singh had to say about the game, "The contest between CSK and GT will be intense as both teams know how to win big games. CSK playing at home is a big advantage, they know the conditions well but somewhere their performance at home hasn’t been foolproof this year. So this makes things interesting but CSK looks a completely different side when it plays in the playoffs. I am really looking forward to this match."
