Finally, the Sunday morning of July 24 ended a medal drought for India in the World Athletics Championship after a long wait of 19 years. Chopra ended up changing the color of the medal for India in the track and field event at Worlds 2022 for India.

The 24-year-old threw his Javelin to the best distance of 88.13m which came up with a silver medal for him. He registered this throw in his fourth attempt during the final. Neeraj’s counterpart from Grenada, Anderson Peters bagged the yellow metal with the best throw of 90.54. Notably, Peters has successfully his Worlds title.

Jakub Vadlejch won the bronze medal with his best throw of 88.09m. Speaking of other participants, then German javelin thrower Julian Weber finished at the fourth spot with his throw of 86.86m.

The Karnal-based javelin sensation of India has become the first Indian man athlete to win a medal World Athletics Championships. Simultaneously, he is only the second athlete from India to achieve this feat. Last time, she was long jumper Anju Bobby George who won a bronze medal at the World Athletics Champs of 2003.
