Akhtar then said Pakistan should be wary of India in the second game of the Super Fours in Asia Cup 2023. In the first India-Pakistan fixture the match at Pallekel was washed out due to rain. India did not turn up with the bat as they would have liked as the top order struggled against the Pakistan pace trio of Shaheen Shah Afridi, Haris Rauf and Naseem Shah.

Ishan Kishan cracked 82 off 81 balls in the washed-out encounter at Pallekele

Only Ishan Kishan and Hardik Pandya were bright spots for the Men in Blue in the Group stage game. Kishan made a superlative 82 off 81 balls with nine fours and two sixes. Kishan got these precious runs batting at number five against a Pakistan bowling attack that was breathing fire.  Pandya struck a cracking 87 off 90 balls with seven fours and one six.

In the Super Four game against the Men in Green, India's bowling stocks will be bolstered with the return of Jasprit Bumrah who missed the game against Nepal due to the birth of his baby boy. Mohammed Shami could also come in for Shardul Thakur to add more heft to the bowling. Only the India-Pakistan Super Four fixture has a reserve day barring all others.

When we talk about Pakistan's form, they beat Nepal comprehensively in the first game by 238 runs. In their third game, they beat Bangladesh convincingly by 7 wickets. The Men in Green will play all their remaining games in Sri Lanka. Pakistan have a lot of recent experience of Sri Lankan conditions because of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) and also playing a Test series there recently.
