WWE is reportedly making efforts to bring back a prominent name to the company for an upcoming RAW show. The Day 1 edition of RAW is scheduled to air next Monday, January 1, from the Pechanga Arena in San Diego, California. While four significant matches have already been announced for Day 1, a recent report from Fightful Select suggests that a former Superstar is in the final stages of finalizing plans to come back for the show.
Although the report did not disclose the name, it was mentioned that officials are "on the one-yard line" in terms of securing this star for an appearance on the show. The company is confident that they can complete the deal. The wrestler in talks for RAW Day 1 is someone presently not part of the roster, as per information from backstage sources.
Although the same sources used the term "former WWE Champion" to characterize the mysterious star, they refrained from providing any further details. When questioned about whether this individual is currently active or retired. Some of the matches which have been finalized;
· Becky Lynch vs. Nia Jax.
· Tegan Nox and Natalya vs. Shayna Baszler and Zoey Stark to determine new contenders to the Women's Tag Team Champions.
· Rhea Ripley defending the Women's World Championship against Ivy Nile.
· Seth Rollins defending the World Heavyweight Championship against Drew McIntyre.
Mercedes Moné drops another major hint regarding the comeback
Recently, Mercedes Moné used social media to strongly imply that she might make a return to WWE. However, according to a report from Fightful Select, Moné had a meeting with WWE officials, but the discussions did not advance, leading WWE to discontinue the negotiations. It is anticipated that she will make appearances in some other promotions shortly.
Moné left the Stamford-based company in 2021 following a disagreement with the creative team. After her departure, the former Sasha Banks made appearances in World Wonder Ring Stardom and New Japan Pro Wrestling.
