Cricket is by far the most popular sport in India and none can come close to it. However, one cannot deny the popularity of the WWE as well. WWE sees India as a massive market and thus is expanding its network in the country. Making the Great Khali and Jinder Mahal as World Heavyweight Champion and WWE Champion respectively was part of their strategy to attract more viewers.
Since both these sports are hugely popular among the masses, we couldn’t help but imagine the WWE equivalent of our favourite Indian cricketers.
Brock Lesnar and Yuvraj Singh
Brock Lesnar and Yuvraj have a lot of things in common. While Lesnar is one of the most powerful wrestlers of all time, Yuvraj Singh was also known for his sheer strength during his playing days. Also, both Lesnar and Yuvraj battled life threatening diseases during the peak of their careers. While Brock suffered from diverticulitis when he was the UFC champion, Yuvraj battled Cancer. Both, however, were able to overcome the disease and resume their careers.
John Cena and MS Dhoni
MS Dhoni is the most successful Indian skipper and has led India to multiple World Cup wins. John Cena, on the other hand, was the face of WWE for a large part of his career. Both Cena and Dhoni drew massive popularity during the peak of their careers. However, at the flag end of their careers, a lot of people started questioning their abilities. While Cena was criticised for having limited in-ring skills, Dhoni lost his Midas touch and has been trolled for being the shadow of his own.
The Undertaker and Sachin Tendulkar
The Undertaker is arguably the greatest wrestlers to have stepped in the ring. He was the flag bearer of WWE for over three decades. Sachin Tendulkar, on the other hand, is a legendary figure in world cricket. The deadman has one of the most impressive streaks in the history of WrestleMania while Tendulkar has his name on almost every cricketing record. Also, both superstars are among the humblest guys out there.
Sourav Ganguly and Triple H
Sourav Ganguly was one of the greatest cricketers to have graced the field while Triple H was among the top Wrestlers of his time. However, what links these two stars is that both became part of authoritarian bodies posts their careers. While Triple H is the Executive Vice President, Live Events & Talent for the WWE, Sourav Ganguly is director of the Indian Cricket Board (BCCI).
Roman Reigns and Virat Kohli
Roman Reigns has been the poster boy of WWE for a while now. Virat Kohli, on the other hand, is the face of Indian cricket. Both personalities draw massive fan following and are known for their aggressive attitude on and off the field.
