Shafali Verma departs after a blazing start

After being put into bat first, Delhi needed a quick-fire start and who else could do it better than Shafali Verma? The young Indian opener came out all guns blazing as he hit Tanuja Kanwar for a four and a maximum in the very first over of the innings. However, the fireworks did not last too long as Meghna Singh got rid of Verma in the third over and the right0hander departed for 13 off 9 balls.

Alice Capsey continues her fine form

Alice Capsey, who scored a 33-ball 46 in their previous match, continued her fine form with another impactful knock. While captain Lanning took a cautious approach, it was essential for the other batter to keep the net run rate in check. Capsey did it brilliantly and took the team score over 50 at the end of the powerplay. However, she was sent packing for 27 off 17 balls in the seventh over.

Back-to-back boundaries and Meg Lanning departs after a brilliant fifty

Skipper Lanning played an anchor role and DC built their innings around her. She had a slow start but slowly accelerated in the mid-phase. With a couple of back-to-back boundaries against Meghna Singh, the former Australia captain notched up a brilliant half-century. But Gaints' bowler took revenge on the very next ball.

Meghna Singh wraps Delhi's innings with a four-for

DC continued to lose wickets but with some useful contributions from Annabel Sutherland (12-ball 20) and Shikha Pandey ( 8-ball 14), they went past 150. Meghna wrapped up the first innings by claiming her fourth wicket on the very last ball. Delhi finished with 163 on the board - the exact average first-innings score at this venue.

DC start with a maiden over, followed by Wolvaardt's wicket

Defending a competitive total, pacer Titas Sadhu gave a maiden over star for Capitals. The pressure was built early on and that resulted in Gujarat opener Laura Wolvaard's wicket in the very next over. Shikha Pandey dismissed her for a 3-ball duck.

Jess Jonassen strikes twice in fifth over

After an early blow, captain Beth Mooney and  Phoebe Litchfield tried to form a decent partnership. The latter looked aggressive as she hit three boundaries in the fourth over. However, Jess Jonassen made a double breakthrough by taking both wickets. That brought two new batters to the crease and GUJ had to start from scratch.

GUJ take back seat after Ashleigh Gardner's dismissal

Gujarat lost a couple of more wickets, but Ashleigh Gardner were fighting alone at the other end. Hanging on till the 15th over, the Australian cricketer scored a vital 40 off 31 balls. However, with her dismissal, GUJ took a back seat and it was only a matter of time before Delhi wrapped up the match in their favour.

Final analysis

Gujarat never crossed 142 in this tournament and the trend continued tonight. Mooney and Co. were restricted to 138-8 as Delhi won by 25 runs to register back-to-back wins. Jonassen and Radha Yadav were the pick of the bowlers for Delhi as the duo took three wickets each.
