Meanwhile, speaking about the match, it was India's skipper Rohit Sharma who won the toss and invited the hosts to field first. Notably, after being opted to bat first, the visitors had a great start owing to the fantastic partnership between Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill, who were at 80 in just 10.4 overs with no wicket loss. The 36-year-old skipper hammered 53 runs from 48 balls, featuring seven sixes and two sixes, to give a flying start to his team. India's opener Shubman Gill was looking in solid form but got dismissed for 19 runs.

Following him, former India skipper Virat Kohli also departed cheaply, with just 3 runs. Notably, Ishan Kishan and KL Rahul tried to boost India's middle order but couldn't carry the momentum after racking up 33 and 39 runs, respectively. India's great all-rounders Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja could only rack up 5 and 4 runs, respectively. Later, in the end, Axar Patel and Mohammad Siraj were at the crease as the rain once again played spoilsport in the play, with Team India's score reading 197/9, with Dunith Wellalage and Charith Asalanka having 5 and 4 wickets to their names, respectively.
