Indian team made two changes leading up to the second Test

The second Test match of the series also marks the teams' first assignment in 2024, and both teams have implemented a couple of changes to their playing XI. Specifically focusing on the all-round department, India made two alterations by excluding Shardul Thakur and Ravichandran Ashwin. They brought in an additional pacer, Mukesh Kumar and have also included Ravindra Jadeja to strengthen their batting unit.

With Prasidh Krishna retaining his place in the lineup, India has opted for four frontline pacers, including Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj. This strategic choice resulted in Jadeja replacing Ashwin. Notably, the last time the left-arm spinner participated in a Test in South Africa was in 2013.
