The Indian cricket team is all set to take on New Zealand in the final of the World Test Championship. The showpiece event will be played from June 18 to June 22 at Southampton. In the league stage, India finished at the top of the points table with 520 points from a possible 720. They also have a 72.2 win percentage. However, the journey to the finals wasn’t easy as India faced many challenges including the change in the points system, injuries to the main players, and many more.

West Indies vs India (2019)

India kick-started their campaign in the World Test Championship on a flying note. They registered a stunning victory over West Indies by 2-0 in an away Test series. Ajinkya Rahane and Hanuma Vihari were the wrecker-in-chief for the victors as they slammed a century each in the first and second Test match respectively. Meanwhile, Ishant Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah made headlines with the ball as they picked a five-wicket haul each in the first Test match.

India vs South Africa (2019)

After the West Indies series, India continued their domination in the purest format of the game as they defeated South Africa by 3-0 at home. This time around it was Rohit Sharma who took the opposition bowlers on remand. The veteran opening batsman scored two centuries in the first match and followed it up with a double-century in the last game. Mayank Agarwal was also impressive as he started the series with a double century and then smashed a hundred in the second game.

India vs Bangladesh (2019)

India won their first seven matches in the World Test Championship as after West Indies and South Africa, they defeated Bangladesh by 2-0. It was Mayank who scored a double century in the first Test to take the hosts home. The second Test match at the Eden Gardens was special as India played their first pink-ball game. Skipper Virat Kohli made the moment more memorable by smashing a century.

New Zealand vs India (2020)

India’s winning streak of seven Test matches came to an end as they were completely outplayed in New Zealand. None of the Indian batters could survive against the Kiwis' decorated pace attack and that resulted in India losing the series 2-0.

Australia vs India (2020-21)

India had a horrific start to their campaign in the four-match Test series against Australia. In their second innings, India got out at 36 and was subjected to a lot of criticism. This was followed by skipper Virat Kohli returning back to India on paternity leave and many main players getting succumbed to injuries. However, the youngsters led from the front as India managed to win the second and fourth Test while the third match ended in a draw. Rishabh Pant was the hero of India’s historic 2-1 victory over Australia while Mohammed Siraj announced himself in style as he was the leading wicket-taker for the visitors.

India vs England (2021)

The first Test of the four-match series against England saw visiting skipper Joe Root slamming double century and taking his team home. However, India again made a memorable comeback as they handed a defeat to the visitors in the second Test. After a victory in the second match, there was no stopping for the home side as they went on to win the series 3-0.
