Ahead of the Tokyo Olympics kick-off, star Indian boxer MC Mary Kom received a heartwarming message from her kids who wished her luck before her opening match. The video was shared by the official Twitter handle of the Tokyo Olympics. "MC Mary Kom's children send a lovely message for their mother! Send yours, in the replies below #Tokyo2020 | #UnitedByEmotion | #StrongerTogether | #TeamIndia | @MangteC," read the caption.

Mary Kom was the first Indian woman to win an Olympic medal. She won a bronze medal in her debut Olympics in London 2012. She was defeated by Nicola Adams, the gold medalist of London 2021, in the semi-finals. The six-time World Champion could not qualify for the 2016 Rio Olympics.

Mary Kom made India proud by winning gold at the Asian Games in 2014 and becoming the first Indian woman to win a gold medal in boxing in the event. However, she failed to qualify for the Glasgow Commonwealth Games. But she roared back again and won the gold medal in Australia's Gold Coast. Mary Kom would want to settle for nothing less than gold this time around.

Mary Kom will be India’s flag-bearer with Men’s hockey captain Manpreet Singh at the Tokyo Olympics opening ceremony. She opens her campaign against Turkish favourite Buse Naz Cakiroglu, who beat her in the world championship semi-finals in 2019.
