India's ace shuttler PV Sindhu has stunningly won the Bronze Medal beating China's He Bing Jiao by 21-13 and 21-15. This is her second medal in as many Olympic appearances. Sindhu had bagged a Silver medal in the Rio Olympics and her another medal in the Tokyo Olympics only asserts her dominance at the highest level.
PV Sindhu also became the first Indian woman and only second Indian athlete to win two Olympic medals. Talking about the match, she was aggressive from the word go and never let her opponent dominate her.
She smartly played cross court smashes and drops and at times, also bluffed He Bing Jiao with her shots in the two games. All the eyes were on her since 5 PM IST and it took her 53 minutes to secure the medal and create history in Tokyo.
Soon after she won the Bronze Medal match, the whole Indian sports fraternity roared on Twitter along with Sindhu and her coach. It is certainly a memorable day for India and all the three medals for India so far have come from women. While it was Mirabai Chanu who started it all, Lovlina Borgohain secured a medal in Boxing and there is a chance for her to win a Gold or Silver as well and Sindhu's performance has been the cherry on the cake.
All the eyes are now on India's Men's Hockey who are playing against Great Britain in the quarterfinal. They are leading by 2-0 as well. The Women's Hockey team have also qualified for the quarterfinal and will be facing Australia on Monday. Meanwhile, Sindhu was trending on social media as India celebrated her win.
