Mathews arrived at the crease just in time, but the batter's two-minute window for facing his first pitch was lost because of a problem with his helmet. Shakib was unforgiving to Mathews, forcing the all-rounder from Sri Lanka to make his way to the dugout without having played a ball.

Shakib refused to back down from his appeal, despite Mathews' best efforts to explain the circumstances to him. After the incident, Shakib Al Hasan has received flak from the cricket community, and Angelo Mathews' move is essentially giving Shakib a dose of his very own medicine.

Shakib's wicket was taken by Mathews, who exacted his retribution. Shakib was dismissed by Mathews during the 32nd over, and he also offered him a farewell signal by calling him "Timed-out." Taking aim at Shakib's wrist, Angelo made fun of his earlier deeds for the day.

Shakib, however, did what he could and finished with a score of 82 (65), which included 12 fours and 2 sixes. In addition to Shakib, Mathews also removed Najmul Shanto from the game, who was crucial in persuading Shakib to challenge the umpire for a "Timed-out." In addition, Shanto had an outstanding innings, scoring 90 runs off 101 balls, including 12 fours.

The two minutes had already elapsed: The Fourth Umpire

The fourth umpire spoke to the media during the innings break to explain the rule to the public. He spoke about the thinking of the on-field umpires while making such a crucial call in their encounter.

He said, “When it comes to timed out, the incoming batter has to be in position to receive the ball within two minutes. The TV umpire monitors the two minutes and he will then relay the message to the standing umpire. In this instance, the batter wasn’t ready within those two minutes even before the strap became an issue for him. The two minutes had already elapsed.”
