Team India continued their dominant run in the ongoing World Cup, registering their fourth straight win to cement their top two positions in the points table. India defeated Bangladesh by 7 wickets on Thursday in Pune but it was Virat Kohli who grabbed the headlines. The batting stalwart once again proved why he is called the 'Chase Master' by hitting the winning six and completing a sensational hundred.

Chasing 257, Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill provided a great start for Team India with the former playing aggressive cricket. The Indian skipper once again provided a powerful start with some attacking shots. Gill, on the other hand, started off cautiously but found the rhythm as the game progressed.

The opening duo stitched an 88-run partnership before Hasan Mahmud got the wicket of dangerous Rohit in the 13th over. Gill, who got out cheaply in his maiden World Cup match, notched up a brilliant half-century. But the right-hander failed to convert it into a big score as Mehidy Hasan Miraz in the very next over of his milestone.

There was no scoreboard pressure for India, so Kohli and Shreyas Iyer played calmly keeping the scoreboard ticking. Iyer parted ways after scoring 18 off 25 balls, but KL Rahul and Kohli took India over the line with more than eight overs to spare. Meanwhile, in the process, Kohli brought up his 48th ODI century and he got great help from Rahul to achieve the milestone.

Ravindra Jadeja's economical spell restricts Bangladesh below 260

Earlier after opting to bat first, Bangladesh had a solid start as their openers did not look in any sort of trouble. Kuldeep Yadav drew first blood by removing Hasan in the 15th over and without much delay, The Tigers suffered a mini-collapse. Skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto and Mehidy Hasan Miraz failed to find any resistance.

With the wicket of Litton Das in the 28th over, Bangladesh were in real trouble as the scoreboard read 137-4. However, Mushfiqur Rahim and Mahmudullah's brilliant cameos took their team total to a competitive score of 256. Ravindra Jadeja was the pick of the bowlers for the Men in Blue, taking two wickets at an economy of just 3.80. Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah also pocketed two wickets.
