Trent Boult gave a perfect start for New Zealand against Bangladesh in the ODI World Cup 2023. The left-arm pacer dismissed Litton Das on the very first ball of the match to give a very good start for his team. The batter had no clue how he was dismissed in the very first ball of the match. New Zealand, on the other hand, celebrated the start they got.

New Zealand is playing under Kane Williamson in the match, who has made a comeback to the side after a long time. The Kiwi captain won the toss and elected to bowl first. Boult proved the decision of Kane right by getting rid of Litton in the very first ball of the match. The ball was not a threatening one. Das tried to give a good start for Bangladesh right from ball one. 

There was no swing, no movement off the surface. Yet, Litton was sent back to the pavilion. It was a straight delivery directed at the pads of Litton. The Bangladeshi opener did not have the best of the shot selection. Instead of playing it through the ground, Das played a lofted shot. The ball got carried on and travelled towards the fine leg region, where Matt Henry was stationed.

The fielder did no mistake and helped Boult in claiming the wicket. Boult celebrated the wicket along with his teammates. Henry, who was stationed a bit far from the boundary ropes, caught the ball brilliantly with a jump. In the process, Boult became the first bowler to claim a wicket in the very first ball of a match in the ODI World Cup 2023. 

It put New Zealand right on top in the match against Bangladesh. It is also the first instance of New Zealand claiming the wicket on the very first ball of a match in the history of the ODI World Cup. The start of Boult had fans at theri feet. Lockie Ferguson later came into attack and dismissed the Southpaw Tanzid Hasan.
