Martin Guptill
In the last quarterfinal of the 2015 edition, hosts New Zealand took on two-time winners, West Indies. The home team won the toss and elected to bowl first on a small ground in Wellington, i.e. Sky Stadium (formerly Westpac Stadium). Batting first, Martin Guptill scored 237 not out in just 163 balls including 24 fours and 11 sixes. Thanks to him, the team reached a mammoth score of 393/6. Despite the Marron Brigade giving their best, they were bowled out for 250 in 30.3 overs.
2. Chris Gayle
The former West Indies has only one ODI double hundred. This came during the 2015 World Cup in the game against Zimbabwe in Canberra. The two-time winners won the toss and elected to bat first. Gayle got 215 off 147 balls including 10 fours and 16 sixes and helped the team reach 372/2. In reply, the Chevrons were bowled out 289 runs in 44.3 overs, losing the game by 73 runs.
3. Glenn Maxwell
The two-time World Cup winner for Australia has become the first Kangaroo to hit an ODI double hundred. In the match against Afghanistan in the ongoing tournament, the former champions were reduced to 91/7, chasing 292 runs, set by the Asian side. Came out to bat at number six, he got an able partner in the form of skipper Pat Cummins. Meanwhile, the former scored an unbeaten 201 not out in just 128 balls including 21 fours and 10 sixes and won the game by three wickets.
4. Gary Kirsten
The former India and South Africa head coach once opened the batting for his home nation, South Africa. UAE, who were playing their first ODI World Cup in 1996, ran into Proteas during one of the games in Rawalpindi. Thanks to Kirsten's 188 not out of 159 balls including 13 fours and four sixes, the Green Brigade managed 321/2. In reply, the Middle Eastern side could only get to 152/8, losing the game by 169 runs.
5. Sourav Ganguly
The former India skipper and board president created havoc, alongside Rahul Dravid on the then-defending champions Sri Lanka in 1999. After being asked to bat first, the Men In Blue lost Sadagopan Ramesh early. At 6/1, the likes of Ganguly and Dravid put together 318 runs for the second wicket with the former getting 183 off 158 balls including 17 fours and seven sixes. They helped the team post a massive score of 373/6. In reply, the Lankan Lions were bowled out for 216, losing the game by 157 runs.
