Simon Doull all praises for Mohammed Shami in ODI World Cup 2023

Mohammed Shami has been highly impressive in the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023 in just the 2 matches he has played. Shami got a chance to play in the team, as Hardik injured himself during the game against Bangladesh in Pune. The Indian all-rounder was ruled out of the match against New Zealand and England. It forced India to get Shami in the team.

Shami looked as if he was waiting for the opportunity to hunt down the batters. In the two games he has played since then, Shami has been on absolute fire. With his seam bowling, Shami has changed the matches in instances. In 2 matches so far in the tournament, Shami has a whopping 9 wickets to his name, which is an unbelievable stat. 

Against New Zealand, Shami picked a five-wicket haul on his return to the side. Shami dismissed the likes of Rachin Ravindra, Will Young, Daryl Mitchell, Mitchell Santner, and Matt Henry. Shami ended with incredible figures of 5/54 in the match. Against England, Shami continued his good run and went a notch above to absolutely own the batting lineup.

In Lucknow, Shami was unplayable. With his terrific seam bowling, Shami made batters dance to his tones. Stokes hardly got to put his bat on the ball and was undone in the process. Jonny Bairstow was bowled by Shami in his very first ball. Moeen Ali was also dismissed by the Indian pacer. Later on, Shami came back and sent Adil Rashid's off stump for flying. 

In the match, Shami ended up with figures 4/22, which was one of his best spells in the ODI World Cup. Speaking about his spell in the match, Simon Doull said, "I love Mohammed Shami. I love the way he bowls that seam-up is one of the best seam presentations in all of cricket. I think he is an absolute gun and he has probably played his way into the side a bit more permanently now."
