The Indian cricket team started their 2023 ODI World Cup journey with a thrilling six-wicket win over five-time champions Australia. The Rohit Sharma-led side managed to restrict the visitors to 199 but the chase was not as easy as they expected. Mitchell Stack and Josh Hazlewood's fiery spell tore apart the Indian top order - Ishan Kishan, Rohit and Shreyas Iyer were dismissed for ducks.

However, Virat Kohli and KL Rahul took the game away from the Aussies with a record partnership. The right-handed pair put on a 165-run partnership for the fourth wicket and ensured the home team would open the campaign on a high. However, apart from exciting cricket actions, a pitch invader has also caught the attention of cricket fans. Daniel Jarvis aka Jarvo stormed into the pitch and was later taken off by the security at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

In a viral video, Jarvo was seen running onto the ground during Australia's batting innings and was stopped by KL Rahul. Soon after, security intervened and took him off the ground. During the process, star Indian batter Virat Kohli was also spotted approaching Jarvo and urging him to leave the ground.

The Englishman later revealed what Kohli had told him. "Jarvo, bro I love your video but this has got to stop now," Jarvo quoted Virat as saying.

Cricket Governing Body bans Jarvo from attending further World Cup matches

The Cricket Governing Body, however, banned Jarvo from attending the remaining matches of the ongoing World Cup. "The individual concerned has been banned from attending any further games at the event and the matter is in the hands of the Indian authorities," the Cricket Governing Body spokesperson stated when PTI enquired about the incident.

"The safety and security of everyone involved in the Men's Cricket World Cup 2023 is our priority. We will work with the venue to understand what happened and consider if any additional security measures are required to prevent it happening again," the spokesperson added.

This is not the first time Jarvo has breached security and entered the field. He was banned from English grounds in 2021 after repeatedly entering the field during the series against India.
