Five-time champions Australia have had a disappointing start to their campaign, as a result of which they are currently bottom of the points table. Their first match saw, India outperforming in both departments and losing by six wickets. In the subsequent game, South Africa handed them a massive 134-run defeat. Notably, the Kangaroos failed to cross 200 runs in both these matches.

On the other hand, Sri Lanka managed to get their team total above 300 in both matches but failed to cross the threshold. South Africa annihilated The Lions by 102 runs in a record-breaking encounter. The second game was a thriller, but Pakistan pulled off the highest successful run chase in World Cup history.

The pitch at Ekana Cricket Stadium is much better than it was during the 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL). However, the nature of the surface is slow and is expected to assist bowlers more. This is not a high-scoring ground. Dew is expected to play a major role in the second innings.
