Amid complaints from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) about “inappropriate crowd behaviour” by Indian spectators, former India cricketer Irfan Pathan has revealed a scary incident he faced while playing in Pakistan. PCB has filed a complaint with the Cricket Governing Body after Babar Azam's team lost to India by seven wickets at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Saturday, October 14.

There were only a handful of Pakistani fans to witness the high-octane encounter as the world's biggest stadium was packed with blue army. India dominated their arch-rivals throughout the match and their fans could not keep calm. However, one incident that the Indian supporters could have avoided was the chants when Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan returned to the pavilion.

After playing a valuable 49-run knock, Rizwan was sent back by a group of Indian supporters chanting some religious chants, prompting the PCB to lodge a complaint. The Cricket Governing Body has realised the seriousness of the matter but is unlikely to take any action as the complaint is against a group and not an individual.

While being on air during India's 2023 World Cup match against Bangladesh on Thursday, Pathan revealed that he was hit by a nail while playing in Peshawar. The former all-rounder said he could have been seriously injured but continued to play after a brief halt of 10 minutes. Pathan asked Pakistan to stop making issues over the behaviour of the Indian crowd.

“We were playing a game in Peshawar, when a fan threw a nail at me, which struck me under my eye. I could have gotten seriously injured. The match was halted for 10 minutes, but we did not pay any heed to it as we were playing good cricket,” Pathan said on commentary.

"Pakistan should stop making issues of crowd’s behavior in India. They shouldn’t stretch things over here," he added.
