Indian bowlers were exceptional with the ball and restricted Australia to just 199 runs in Chennai in the ODI World Cup 2023. Australian captain Pat Cummins won the toss and elected to bat first. The decision of Cummins was not proven right by the Australian batters, who could not bat well. On a dry surface in Chennai, the Australian batters failed.

Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammad Siraj were excellent with the new ball. As Siraj was economical from his end, Bumrah was attacking and wicket-taking as well from his end. Bumrah dismissed Marsh early, courtesy of a brilliant catch from Virat Kohli. That was when Steve Smith joined David Warner and steadied the ship for Australia. The second-wicket partnership revived the Australian innings.

Kuldeep Yadav came in and dismissed Warner. The chinaman spinner broke the partnership which was looking threatening. What followed was a brilliant spell of bowling from Ravindra Jadeja. The star All-rounder got rid of Steve Smith with a beautiful delivery and then dismissed  Marnus Labuschagne as well. Jadeja dismissed Alex Carey and reduced Australia to 119/5.

Further, Kuldeep set up Glenn Maxwell very well and cleanly bowled him. Ravichandran Ashwin got rid of Cameron Green and reduced Australia to 140/7. At that point,  Australia had lost all the recognized batters. But the tailenders from Australia took them to a respectable total. Cummins, Starc, and Adam Zampa batted sensibly. Starc scored 28 runs and hit some big blows. Cummins scored 15 runs as well. 

In the end, Australia ended up with a score of 199 runs. Though it was a below-par total in Chennai, Australi recovered well. from 140/7 at one stage, Australia scored 199 runs. For India, all the bowlers were very good. Bumrah was exceptional in all the phases. Siraj was very good as well. Hardik was expensive at the start but came back well. But the stars of the show were the spinners. Kuldeep, Jadeja, and Ashwin gave the early lead to the Indian team.
