WATCH: Hardik Pandya lets out roar on dismissing Azmatullah Omarzai in ODI World Cup 2023 match against Afghanistan

Hardik Pandya bowled very well against Afghanistan in the ODI World Cup 2023 match in Delhi. On a flat deck in Arun Jaitley stadium, Hardik was a wicket-taking option for India. Earlier in the match, Hardik put breaks on Afghanistan's innings by dismissing the dangerous-looking Rahmanullah Gurbaz. Following it, Hardik was dispatched for boundaries by the duo of Hashmatullah Shahidi and Azmatullah Omarzai.

The duo threatened to take the match away from India. No bowler was able to dismiss them with their bowling. Japsrit Bumrah, Siraj, Kuldeep Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja, and Shardul Thakur tried their best to get rid of the pair. But none of them could dismiss the batters in the middle. Even Hardik was smashed by the two in the middle. The wicket in Delhi is way too good for batting.

But Hardik was relentless. He continuously challenged the Afghanistan batters to good lengths. Azmatullah, who was smashing both the spinners and pacers for fun, faced Hardik. The right-arm medium pacer bowled a slightly back of a length, which deceived Omarzai completely. It just went past the outside edge of the batter to hit the top of the off stump. It just lifted the spirits of the Indian players.

It was a long time since India claimed a wicket. Hence, the Indian players were visibly happy with the wicket. Hardik, in particular, was very happy with the dismissal. The star All-rounder let out a roar and celebrated the wicket of Omarzai. It was visible that the wicket meant a lot for Hardik. The stay of Omarzai and Shahidi had frustrated the Indian players.

To dismiss him the way he did meant a lot to the entire team. The wicket of Omarzai came at the right time for India. After the dismissal, the Indian bowlers were able to put a bit more pressure on the batters of Afghanistan. The new batter Mohammad Nabi took his time to get settled. Even Shahidi took a bit of time and played dot balls.
