Having been set a target of 285 to win the English batters were all at sea against an inspired Afghan bowling attack. Fazalhaq Farooqi began by getting rid of Bairstow for 2. This was followed by Mujeeb crashing into Joe Root’s stumps for 11, while Dawid Malan fell for 32 to Mohammad Nabi.

Naveen Ul Haq then dealt England a huge blow when he had Jos Buttler out bowled for just 9. Rashid Khan then showed his class to claim the wicket of Liam Livingstone for ten. Nabi struck again when he had Sam Curran caught in the slips for ten.

Harry Brook was the only English batter to put up a fight scoring 61-ball 66 runs with a six and 7 hits to the fence. That fightback was ended by Mujeeb when he had Brook caught behind the wicket. Adil Rashid, Mark Wood, and Reece Topley tried to delay the inevitable. Rashid Khan got the crowd going when he bowled Mark Wood for 18 to give his team their biggest win.
