'Aathwi jeet par faqr hai' - Fans praise India as they maintain their 100 percent win record against Pakistan in ODI WC

In the 12th game of the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023, India and Pakistan locked horns in Ahmedabad. Ahead of the game, both teams were coming off two back-to-back wins in the tournament. While India was looking for their eighth win in the ODI WC against their neighboring rivals, the Green Brigade was looking for their first win. Meanwhile, in this game, the home side, India won the toss and elected to field first.

Even though it looked like a surprise decision, the two-time winners bowled well despite not picking wickets in regular intervals initially. The first wicket to fall was Abdullah Shafique (20), who was trapped lbw by Mohammed Siraj. Imam-ul-Haq (38) got a decent start but was caught behind by KL Rahul off Hardik Pandya. At 78/2, the likes of skipper Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan put together 82 runs.

While the skipper scored his maiden ODI fifty against India, Rizwan missed out on another fifty by a run. Meanwhile, after this partnership was broken, the team had a massive batting collapse. From 155/2, the 1992 winners were bowled out for 191, losing eight wickets for 36 runs. India bowlers such as Jasprit Bumrah, Kuldeep Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Mohammed Siraj, and Ravindra Jadeja took two wickets each.

In reply, the former champions weren't willing to die wondering during the run chase. Even though Shubman Gill (16) got out cheaply, he scored four boundaries to showcase his good form. On the other hand, India skipper Rohit Sharma, coming off a murderous hundred against Afghanistan, scored another 86 off 63 balls including six fours and as many sixes. 

Even though Virat Kohli had a rare failure against Pakistan, Shreyas Iyer managed to get an unbeaten fifty to get some confidence for the next few games. In the end, the team won by seven wickets and maintained their 100 percent win record against their rivals.
