Hardik Pandya

Hardik Pandya

Hardik Pandya has been ruled out of the ODI World Cup 2023 after failing to recover from his ankle injury. Hardik sustained the injury while attempting to stop the ball in the match against Bangladesh. After taking scans, it was revealed that Hardik could not play the match against New Zealand due to his injury. But the reports suggested him to recover before the match against England. However, Hardik could not recover in time before the match against England.

Reports later suggested that Hardik might not recover before the semifinal of the tournament. But the latest news has revealed Hardik to have been ruled out of the rest of the tournament. It is a big blow for the Indian team, as they have lost the balance Hardik could have provided. In his place, Prasidh has come in as a replacement, which is not like-to-like. Here are three players who could have replaced Pandya, instead of Prasidh in India's squad.

3. Washington Sundar

Washington Sundar is a good All-rounder in the Indian domestic circuit. Before the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023, Sundar was in and around the Indian squad in some of the series. With the bat, Sundar can be handy as a finisher. If required, Sundar can bat in the top order as well. With the ball, Sundar offers a good spin bowling option, which will be handy in the Indian conditions.

2. Deepak Chahar

Deepak Chahar is a pace-bowling All-rounder. The talented pacer can swing the ball early on in the innings and has some good variations in the death overs. His swing bowling would have been handy for the team. But his batting would have strengthened India with the required balance. Chahar has won the matches with his batting efforts in the past.

1. Axar Patel

Axar Patel was initially in the Indian ODI World Cup 2023 squad. However, due to an injury he suffered in the Asia Cup 2023, Axar was ruled out of the tournament. Recently in the Syed Mushtaq Ali trophy, Axar was in good nick as a finisher. Considering his All-round capabilities, Axar's selection in the squad would have made sense, given he is fit and was already in the squad.
