While it remains to be seen if a new champion will emerge this time around, monopolies Mumbai Indians (MI) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will enter the tournament as favourites, as usual. Loaded with superstars and a massive fan base, both teams will once again take to the mega stage to dominate right from the start.

MI and CSK are undoubtedly two of the most successful franchises in the history of the league, having won five IPL titles. Known as the El Clásico of IPL, MI vs CSK is the biggest rivalry in the T20 franchise leagues and fans are eagerly waiting to witness another episode of it when the tournament kick-starts at the end of March.

Ahead of the 2024 season, IPL's official television broadcaster Star Sports released a promo video of the blockbuster MI vs CSK. Hardik vs Dhoni in new episode of MI vs CSK rivalry

Meanwhile, there will be a big change in their rivalry this time around, with Rohit Sharma no longer leading the Mumbai-based franchise. The man who led MI to glory five times was removed from the role ahead of the 2024 mini-auction and handed the baton to all-rounder Hardik Pandya who returned to his former franchise in a massive all-cash trade deal.

It will be between captain Hardik and CSK talisman Dhoni in the 2024 season. The legendary India cricketer is likely to hang up his boots after the upcoming season, so he wants to do it in style by winning two titles in a row. Notably, CSK won their fifth title by defeating Gujarat Titans (GT), captained by Hardik, in the 2023 final. The 30-year-old will want to take revenge and live up to MI's legacy, which suggests an exciting episode is in store for fans.
