They have only INR 14.50 crore to spend, so have to be judicious in their choices. RR released nine players ahead of the auction and traded pace bowler Avesh Khan from Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). In this article, we take a look at the top 5 players that the Rajasthan-based franchise can target in the IPL 2024 mini-auction.

5. Harry Brook

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) bought Brook in the previous edition but the English batter failed to justify his huge price tag. Barring a century, the right-hander delivered below-par performances. The 2016 champions released him ahead of the 17th IPL edition and now RR can target him to fill their No. 4 or 5 slot. With Joe Root pulled out himself and Shimron Hetmyer stepping into a finishing role, Brook could do well in the middle order.

4. Shardul Thakur

With RR releasing Jason Holder, they are eyeing a pace all-rounder. They will be happy to get Shardul Thakur onboard as they can fill the slot with a domestic player. Thakur's experience in IPL and international cricket and his knack to deliver crucial breakthroughs will be a huge boost for RR.

3. Harshal Patel

Harshal Patel was the leading wicket-taker and Player of the Season in IPL 2021. However, he failed to live up to the expectations in the last two editions and hence Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) decided to drop him. The tracks in Jaipur were slower last time, so Harshal can take advantage of his bowling variations. The right-arm medium pacer has registered his name at the highest base price of Rs 2 crore.

2. David Willey

The English bowling all-rounder was released by RCB ahead of the 2024 IPL auction. In the previous edition, he gave a decent performance. RR can pick him up for the upcoming season as he can easily fill the spot of a pace-bowling all-rounder. The 33-year-old has recently announced his retirement from international cricket and will give his all for the franchise leagues.

1. Chris Woakes

Star England all-rounder Chris Woakes has registered his name for auction at a base price of 2 Crore. Expect a bidding war for him on December 19 and RR could be one of them. His ability to take crucial wickets and contribute effectively with the bat is a boon to any team. Royals could target Woakes as a replacement for Jason Holder in IPL 2024.
