Australian skipper Pat Cummins has been confirmed as the new skipper of Sunrisers Hyderabad side. Aiden Markram who was the captain last season has been relieved of his duties ahead of the new season.
It was announced over the weekend that Pat Cummins could likely be named as the new skipper of the side. Last year Sunrisers Hyderabad had finished tenth in the table despite making a lot of investments.

Pat Cummins has already won the World Test Championships and ODI World Cup 2023 title. Hyderabad last won the title in 2016 under David Warner by beating RCB in the final of the tournament.
Massive blow for Aiden Markram –
South African batter Aiden Markram was removed as the Sunrisers Hyderabad captain on Monday. The 30-year-old Australian skipper Pat Cummins has been named as his replacement for the top job.
It is a cruel body blow for Markram as he is the captain of the Sunrisers Eastern Cape team. Under his captaincy, the team has won the SA20 twice in two years in 2023 and 2024. The decision to appoint Pat Cummins as the skipper is purely a cricketing reason. No statement has been made by the team so far after the appointment was confirmed on Twitter.
The Australian star recently spoke to Star Sports India and said “India is like a second home. We spend so much time here. IPL you've got your home teams. So you feel like you've got plenty of fans Or, you know, at least cricket fans that have, you know, supported you or, you know, lots of people come up to me and say, Oh, I'm from Kolkata or I go for KKR. So it's nice feeling like not everyone's against you.”
Australia beat New Zealand in the first Test of the short series to take an unassailable lead in the series. Nathan Lyon was the star of the show with the ball as the veteran spinner picked 6 wickets.
Praising his veteran spinner, the Aussie skipper said “His body can only hamper his chances, if he looks after his body well and targets ten Test matches a year, he can go on till 2027. I have told him the day he retires, I will leave the Australia captaincy because he makes my life easier. It is a captain’s dream to have a player like him in the team.”
