MI Emirates put up another impressive performance in the ongoing ILT 20 and booked a berth in the playoffs. They beat Desert Vipers by 30 runs at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Sunday - their sixth win in eight matches. However, one thing apart from the cricketing action in the spotlight was the heated exchange between Waqar Salamkheil of Emirates and Wanindu Hasaranga of Vipers.

The incident took place in the seventh over of the Vipers' batting innings. Chasing a huge target of 189, Colin Munro's team got off to the worst possible start. The Emirates bowlers tore their batting unit apart with Hasaranga becoming the sixth victim in just 7 overs. The Sri Lankan all-rounder took a thick edge off  Salamkheil's delivery and Nicholas Pooran took a comfortable catch behind the stumps.

Afghanistan Chinaman Salamkheil did an aggressive celebration on the batter's face that prompted him to lose his cool. Hasaranga, who was disappointed after the wicket, turned around and gave an intense look to the bowler before exchanging a few words. Even commentators said the Emirates bowler's celebrations were excessive.

Kusal Perera, Nicholas Pooran and Fazalhaq Farooqi shine in Emirates' win

After being asked to bat first, Emirates managed to post a competitive total of 188. Sri Lankan opener Kusal Perera set the tone with a fine half-century (65 off 46 balls). Their middle-order struggled a bit to keep the strike rate in check, but Windies power-hitter Pooran unleashed his beast mode with a blazing 15-ball 39.

In reply, Vipers lost opener Rohan Mustafa in the very first over and ignited a massive collapse. They were 45-6 after Hasaranga's wicket in the 7th over and by then Emirates were in control of the game. No. 7 Ali Naseer's fighting knock- 63 off 47 - helped the side reduce the margin of defeat. Fazalhaq Farooqi was the star of the night as the Afghan pacer picked up four wickets.
