Despite making it to three IPL finals, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) has yet to secure the coveted trophy. RCB led by Faf du Plessis entered the IPL 2024 auction in Dubai on December 19 with a strong core team. Their objective was to address past weaknesses and construct a squad with the potential to win the championship. At the end of the auction, one can say that there are still bases which could have been covered in the auction.

Earlier, before the auction, the franchise expressed a strong desire for Mayank Dagar, they released their emerging talent, Shahbaz Ahmed. However, it remains intriguing to see if Dagar secures a spot in the starting XI. The clarity in their approach was evident as they invested significantly in Australian sensation Cameron Green, transforming a relatively quiet deadline day afternoon into a dramatic night.

Adding depth to their Indian fast bowling arsenal, which already includes Mohammed Siraj, Vyashak Vijaykumar, Akash Deep and Rajan Kumar, the team made a significant investment of INR five crore to secure Yash Dayal. In addition to this, they concluded their relatively modest shopping spree by acquiring Tom Curran (1.5 Cr), Lockie Ferguson (2 Cr), Swapnil Singh (20 lakh), and Sourav Chauhan (20 lakh).

RCB face a challenge in their bowling department due to the compact dimensions of the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, where they play seven out of their 14 games. In the same vein, RCB have emphasized their batting prowess once again. It will be fascinating to see how they handle a substantial test under pressure as well as challenges in the upcoming 17th edition of the IPL.
