It has been understood that the Football club Arsenal are ready to part ways with their midfielder Joe Willock. This move has been made to raise the funds for a big signing of Real Madrid mid-fielder Martin Odegaard. Arsenal Manager Mikel Arteta is reportedly keen to keep Odegaard in the side after the Footballer played the second half of 2020-21 season at loan for the club.
Willock, on the other hand, was loaned out to New Castle United where he had a brilliant time scoring 8 goals in 14 matches. This has led to the New Castle Club being interested in him on a permanent basis with Arteta also open on selling Willock.
If the reports in the Daily Telegraph are to be believed, Arsenal are willing to sell Willock for £20 million even as it has also been stated that Arteta doesn't see him in his future plans.
Even after selling Willock, Arsenal may still run into a few obstacles when it comes to getting hold of Odegaard. First of all, it is still not clear if Real Madrid wants to sell the mid-fielder. Moreover, even if they decided to sell, Arsenal may not afford him as reports are coming that the Spanish Club would demand a fee of around €70 million.
For the same reason, Arsenal have kept a backup plan ready. In case, they fail to secure Odegaard's services for the summer, they have thinking to buy Norwich City mid-fielder Emiliano Buendia as an alternative. He would cost the club for a much lesser amount as well and add to it that Arteta is his huge fan.
