But now, their ways are parted and recently there are talks in the footballing arena about the possible comeback of Messi in Barcelona. There is still confusion in the core leadership of Barcelona. Club’s president Joan Laporta has hinted about Messi’s comeback to the club. Whereas on the other hand, manager Xavi has said something very different.

He's under contract with PSG so it's impossible - Xavi on Lionel Messi

“Messi has been everything, for Barça he has possibly been the best player in history, the most efficient, only comparable to Johan Cruyff in the history of Barça," Laporta said,” Laporta was quoted as saying in his statement.

“The institution is above players and coaches, but I think, I wish, that the Messi chapter is not over yet at Barça and I think our responsibility is to ensure that this open chapter, which has not yet been closed, has a good moment in which it can be done as it should have been done and, in addition, has a much more splendid ending than it had,” He added later.

But, the manager of the club, Xavi came up with a completely different on the re-association of the club and the player. He went on to almost deny what Laporta suggested earlier.

“Makes no sense to speak about Leo Messi's comeback at Barcelona right now, he's under contract with PSG so it's impossible. We'll see in the future,” Xavi was quoted as saying while clearing the air of the veteran’s comeback to the club.

Notably, Messi had a long and celebrated stint of 21 years with Barcelona before he joined PSG last year. He played 776 matches for the Spanish club and scored 670 goals alongside 302 assists.
