Florentino Perez and Real Madrid had famously tried to sign Mbappe a few years ago. The young striker though decided to extend his tenure in France. This will be the first non-French club Kylian Mbappe will be playing for.

AS Monaco was the club where the name Mbappe came into public spotlight. Paris Saint Germain brought Mbappe initially on loan for an entire season. The move was made permanent the next season where Mbappe has won a plethora of titles.

Elusive European title reason behind the move?

Despite enjoying all the domestic season during his tenure at PSG, Kylian Mbappe is short of one big title. The UEFA Champions League is the one title that has eluded the talented striker.

Rival Erling Haaland has managed to win the title with Manchester City after beating Inter Milan last year. The need to win the Champions League may be viewed as one of the major reasons behind Mbappe moving to Real Madrid.

The Madrid side lead the table LA Liga table one point ahead of FC Girona who have been a surprise entity this season. On Sunday Carlo Ancelotti and his side will take on cross town rivals Athletico who are fourth in the table.

Long time rivals, FC Barcelona kept the pressure on Real Madrid with a 3-1 win over Alaves on Saturday. Robert Lewandowski and Illkay Gundogan made it 2-0 before Samu Omorodion made it 2-1. Victor Roque scored for the visiting side in the 63rd minute before seeing red-card in the 72nd minute.

The Barcelona side will be looking to hire a new manager as Xavi is set to leave at the end of the season. The former mid-field ace has seen the season get turbulent before finally managing to put on a few good performances.

Striker Robert Lewandowski was relieved after scoring the goal on Saturday versus Alaves. The veteran Polish striker hasn’t been in the thick of form this year and said that the goal has given him his confidence back.
