Poland took on Saudi Arabia on 26 November 2022 in the Education City Stadium. It was a Group C encounter of the ongoing FIFA World Cup. Saudi Arabia made history in their opening fixture. They defeated Lionel Messi’s Argentina by 2-1. On the other hand, Poland were coming off after a goalless draw with Mexico.

So, Saudi Arabia were looking to surprise again by defeating Poland. While Poland were looking to register their first three points in this tournament. Robert Lewandowski failed to score a penalty in the first match. So, the Polish forward was looking to open his tally in this clash.

Speaking of the match, both teams managed to have a decent start to the game. However, Poland managed to take the lead in the 39th Minute. Piotr Zielinski scored the goal and Robert Lewandowski provided the assist. But, Saudi Arabia responded quickly. In the 44th minute of the game, Krystian Bielik tackled Saleh Alshehri.

VAR checked it and rewarded Saudi Arabia with a penalty. But, Salem Aldawsari missed it as Poland's goalkeeper, Wojciech Szczesny came up with a huge save. Saudi Arabia pushed hard to get back on level terms. But, they failed to score as the first half of the clash ended with a 1-0 lead in favour of Poland. 

In the second half, Saudi Arabia attacked many times. But, they were failing to score in the final third. But, in the 82nd minute, Robert Lewandowski managed to score Poland’s second goal. It was a mistake from Abdulelah Almalki and the Polish striker took the advantage of it. Thus, Lewandowski scored his first World Cup goal. Then, Poland managed to hold the lead, and thus, they won the match by 2-0. With this win, Poland reached the top spot in Group C with four points in two matches. While Saudi Arabia managed to be in the second spot with three points from two matches.
