The wait is over as UEFA Euro 2020 is just hours away. The tournament will kick off with Italy taking on Turkey at the Stadio Olimpico on June 12. The two teams are clubbed with Switzerland and Wales in Group A.

Turkey have compiled a strong squad for Euro 2020 with the likes of Hakan Calhanoglu, Burak Yilmaz, and Caglar Soyuncu at disposal. Italy, on the other hand, is one of Europe's biggest teams and will look to claim their first major trophy in 15 years.

Italy have been very dominant against Turkey and have managed to win eight of their 11 encounters. Turkey has never defeated Italy in European competitions. In Euros, Italy has won all three matches against Turkey, scoring nine goals. The two teams last met way back in 2006, with the match ending in a 1-1 draw.

Italy are in red hot form and come into the tournament on the back of seven consecutive wins. They have scored 21 goals and kept clean sheets in all of their last seven encounters. Lorenzo Insigne has been Italy's main man with 20 goals and 15 assists in all competitions. 

Turkey will look up to Burak Yilmaz to put on a stellar show. Yilmaz scored 16 goals in Lille's successful Ligue 1 campaign and could give Italy's defenders a hard time. Turkey have managed to kept clean sheets in their last two games.

Italy, however, have not faired particularly well in Euro openers and have scored eight goals in nine editions with just three wins.
